Accessibility

Level access to the Leopold Muller Memorial Library site is via the backdoor entrance off the OUP parking lot. Wheelchair users should contact the library (muller.library@bodleian.ox.ac.uk) about access arrangements prior to their first visit. You must have a tailored induction before beginning to use the library.

Assistance animals such as guide dogs and hearings dogs are always allowed into the Bodleian Libraries.

There is a level access disabled toilet available in the library.

Find more detailed accessibility information about the Clarendon Institute and the Leopold Muller Library on the University Access Guide.

Support and services

We are committed to providing equal access to our services and facilities for all users. Staff are always happy to help get books from high shelves, or from less accessible areas in the library. We also offer the following services to disabled readers:

  • Disabled readers are entitled to extended loans when borrowing from our lending collections. You should be registered with the Disability Advisory Service to benefit from extended loans.
  • We can offer tailored, one-to-one user education and library induction sessions.
  • Readers can request proxy borrowing on their account by a support worker or designated helper. All items borrowed in this way remain the responsibility of the reader.
  • Readers can contact us with a list of required books and ask staff to put them aside for collection by yourself or your support worker. (At busy times there may be a delay before we are able to fulfill your request.)

If you would like to discuss your requirements and any of the services above, please contact us at muller.library@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.
