Payments are currently taken over the telephone using a valid debit or credit card. We accept most of the major debit or credit cards.
Free Bodleian Reader cards
We issue free Bodleian Reader cards to the following individuals:

Charges are applicable if you lose your card.
Hardship
For UK citizens, you can apply for a free Bodleian Reader card if you receive:
- Council Tax Reduction Scheme
- Housing Benefit
- Job Seekers' Allowance
- Income Support.
When asked, you will need to show us official correspondence, dated within six months of the application being made.
For non-UK citizens hardship, you may be able to access a free Bodleian Reader card if you are a citizen of a country listed as Low Income by the World Bank.
Please bring your passport as evidence.
Friends of the Bodleian
If you are a Friend of the Bodleian, you can get a 10% discount on a Bodleian Reader card for a maximum of one year, unless you have lifetime membership.

Lost or stolen cards
If your card was lost or stolen, you will have to reapply for a Bodleian Reader card through the normal process.
Lost cards are charged at £6.
If your card was stolen, we can offer a replacement free of charge if you provide the crime reference number.
University cards
We cannot replace lost University cards. You will need to contact the Estates department.
We can issue a temporary day pass if you need to access a Bodleian Library before your card is replaced.
