Education Library for disabled readers

Accessibility

The library is on the first floor of 15 Norham Gardens, up a flight of external stairs.

During departmental opening hours, there is an alternative entrance to the building on the ground floor with a lift. People with difficulties using the stairs are welcome to use this route into the library. Please contact us in advance of your visit so that we can confirm access.

One of our reading rooms is up 3 steps from the main reading room, another is down a flight of stairs, and the top shelves of our bookcases may require the use of ladders or kicksteps. For more information about access to this library, visit the University Access Guide.

Services and support

Please ask staff if you would like assistance in fetching books in advance of your visit. You can also arrange for another reader to collect and return your books on your behalf from the library.

We offer increased loan allowances, and extended loans of normal loan books – just let us know if this would be helpful. Many of our resources are also available as ebooks.

We offer various pieces of kit to help you use the library, including:

  • a height-adjustable desk and standing desk
  • ergonomic chairs
  • various bookrests and laptop stands
  • coloured acetate sheets
  • reading rulers
  • a magnifying bar
  • a daylight lamp
