Accessibility

The library is on the first floor of 15 Norham Gardens, up a flight of external stairs. During departmental opening hours, there is an alternative entrance to the building on the ground floor with a lift. This accessible entrance will be unavailable from mid-May to mid-September 2019 while the department undergoes building work.

People with difficulties using the stairs are welcome to use this route into the library: please let us know in advance of your visit so that we can confirm access. Ring us on 01865 (2)74028, or email education.library@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.

One of our reading rooms is up 3 steps from the main reading room, and the top shelves of our bookcases may require the use of ladders or kicksteps. Please ask staff if you would like assistance in fetching books. You can also arrange for another reader to collect and return your books on your behalf from the library.

We have a bookable discussion room - you are welcome to book it via this page to use as a quiet study space. This is going to be unavailable from mid-May to mid-September 2019. During this period you are welcome to use other libraries with bookable spaces, for example the Social Science Library and the Radcliffe Science Library.

We offer extended loans of our normal loan books of a month at a time with unlimited renewals as long as no one else requests the book - just let us know if this would be helpful. You will also find that many of our resources are available as ebooks and can be read from anywhere. We have printing, photocopying and scanning facilities available via the PCAS system.

The Bodleian Libraries information for disabled readers provides more detail about accessibility in the Education Library and other Bodleian Libraries.

More information about disability support for students is available via the Disability Advisory Service. More information for University staff is available via the Staff Disability Advisor.
