Printing, Photocopying and Scanning

PCAS

PCAS is the Bodleian Libraries’ system for printing, photocopying and scanning.

PCAS accounts are automatically generated when a profile is created and a Bodleian Reader Card is issued for the first time.

Login details for PCAS accounts will be given on admission to the Bodleian Libraries.

Using their PCAS account, holders of Bodleian Reader Cards are able to copy, scan and print using the self-service photocopiers available in reading rooms.

Photocopiers are available in most reading rooms.

Digital cameras may be used in some areas.

Not all material may be copied or scanned using the self-service photocopiers, and the Bodleian Libraries offers a staff-mediated service for such material.

Scan & Deliver

A Scan & Deliver service is available to holders of Bodleian Reader Cards. This service allows readers to request scans of items held in the Bodleian Libraries’ Book Storage Facility. The Scan & Deliver service allows readers to request scanned sections of closed-stack material directly to their desktop, without the need to request it into a reading room.

Library Help

Staff

Staff are available in most reading rooms and holders of Bodleian Reader Cards should feel free to ask any member of staff if they require help or guidance.

Straightforward enquiries are usually resolved immediately.

Complex questions involving specialist subject knowledge can be referred to a senior subject librarian or member of curatorial staff, who will be able to provide expert assistance. However, such assistance may not always be immediately available.

Most reading rooms and libraries produce printed guides, maps, plans and online guides.

Main Enquiry Desk

The Main Enquiry Desk located in the Lower Reading Room inside the Old Bodleian Library is available during library opening hours for face-to-face enquiries.

Live Help

An online live-help service is provided during core library hours, and can be accessed via the homepage for the Bodleian Libraries' online catalogue SOLO.

For more complex enquiries, the Bodleian Libraries also provides an ‘Ask-a-Librarian’ service.


Interlibrary Loan and Document Supply

Interlibrary Loan and Document Supply services can be used to obtain books, journals, papers, theses, reports and other material, which is not held locally.

 

PCs and Wireless Internet

PCs and Wireless Internet access are provided in reading rooms for the consultation of e-resources.

On admission, holders of Bodleian Reader Cards are issued with login details that allow them to use these services.
