Services and facilities at the Radcliffe Science Library

This page provides details of services at the Radcliffe Science Library.

Borrowing

Members of Oxford University with a valid blue-stripe University card can borrow books from the RSL. Find out more about borrowing from the RSL and other Bodleian Libraries, including borrowing allowances, automatic renewals and returns.

Print, Copy and Scan (PCAS)

The RSL has 2 Print, Copy and Scan (PCAS) machines for self-service photocopying, printing and scanning. Find out more about PCAS and how to manage your account. You can also use your own personal device to take photos of library material, but you must not use flash, and copyright rules apply.

Connect to the internet

Bodleian Libraries Wi-Fi networks are available in this library. Find out more about the available networks and how to connect.

Use library computers

The Radcliffe Science Library has networked PCs for reader use. Find these in the reading rooms on the second floor. Find out more about using library PCs.

If you are bringing your own laptop, many desks in the RSL have easily accessible power sockets. We also have laptop locks available for loan if you wish to secure your laptop to a desk. Please ask at the enquiry desk in the entrance hall.

Request or reserve items

You can request items from offsite storage for delivery to the RSL. Find out more about requesting or reserving items via SOLO. Books requested from offsite storage are kept in a reserve in the entrance hall and held there for one week. The reserve is not self-service, so please ask a member of staff for your book.

If you would like to consult items from the Alexander Library, contact Special Collections Enquiries to make an appointment: specialcollections.enquiries@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.

Inter-library requests

If you need an item not held in an Oxford library, you can use the Bodleian Libraries inter-library request service to obtain it from another library. We also accept requests for material from our collections from other institutions.

3D printing

Our 3D printing guide provides information on 3D printing and scanning services provided by the Radcliffe Science Library, along with links to helpful 3D printing, scanning, and modelling resources and tips.

Training

We offer information skills training to all members of the University throughout the academic year. These courses range from general induction for new members to subject-specific tutorials.

Bodleian iSkills sessions are designed to help readers to make the most effective use of library resources to support their information, research, teaching and learning needs.

Subject consultation

Your subject librarian can organise individual and group consultations to help you find research material for your essays, projects or dissertations.
