Study spaces for all
The new Humanities Library will have around 240 seats for general use.
These spaces will include:
- two large study areas with formal seating
- five small bookable group study/consultation rooms (for up to four people)
- a larger group study room (eight seats)
- a Multimedia Room containing music and film collections
Dedicated graduate study spaces
The library will also have 80 seats in dedicated graduate study spaces. These will include:
- one 32-seater graduate study room (with a mix of open tables and individual screened study desks)
- two bookable study/meeting/seminar rooms (eight seats)
Teaching rooms
The new library includes a Rare Materials Teaching Room. Find out more about special collections of the Humanities Library.
Audio-visual viewing facilities
The Multimedia Room on the first floor will accommodate the library’s CD, Blu-ray, and DVD collections.
Film viewing facilities for physical formats (including VHS) will be available in two nearby four-seat rooms. A few video recordings remain in VHS format only and are stored offsite.
Portable DVD players will be available to borrow from the staff desk. The Multimedia Room will also have equipment for listening to CDs.
There will also be facilities for playing LPs and audio cassettes. An electric piano (with headphones) will be on the first floor.
Other services and facilities
The new Humanities Library will also have the standard services and facilities available across the Bodleian Libraries, including:
