Inter-library requests (ILL)

The Bodleian Japanese Library is part of the Bodleian Libraries' Inter-library requests service. UK institutions outside Oxford can request material held at the library through this service.

We lend books and journals only if they are in good condition for lending. We do not lend or photocopy fragile items, items published pre-1920 or reference materials such as dictionaries, maps and encyclopaedias.

The lending period is normally 3 weeks. Requests for an extension of a further 3 weeks must be made in good time by telephone or by email, quoting the request number. Items may be recalled earlier if required by another reader in Oxford.

We only accept requests from institutions with a British Library ILL account. Please send requests by email or post with as much bibliographical detail as possible and provide your account number and request number.
