8 February 2015
During February, the Bodleian Libraries is inviting all members of the University of Oxford and all Bodleian cardholders to share their feedback about the Libraries by completing a short online Reader Survey.
At the Bodleian Libraries we are continually seeking feedback from readers in order to improve our library services. This is done in a number of ways including through a regular readership-wide survey, which takes place every 3 to 4 years. This reader survey complements other externally led surveys such as the NSS (National Student Survey) and the recently completed Ithaka/JISC Academics Survey. It is important that we understand your perceptions and expectations of our services to guide our planning.
Our last Reader Survey took place in 2012. Numerous changes and enhancements were made to the library service in response to the feedback, ranging from increasing library opening hours and improving the usability of SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online), to improving the study environment in Reading Rooms and buying more e-books.
We have just launched the Reader Survey for 2016, open from Monday 8 February to Monday 29 February 2016. The survey seeks feedback on a number of areas including the provision of information resources, the libraries as a space for study, how staff treat readers, information skills and support, and their overall satisfaction with library support for research, teaching and learning. We will be using a standardized survey tool (LibQUAL+) that is used by over 1,200 academic libraries worldwide and therefore enables us to benchmark our results against over comparative institutions.
The survey is open to all readers who have used the physical or virtual libraries across Oxford including UG, PGT, PGR, Academics, Researchers, Lecturers/Tutors. Feedback is also welcome from external researchers who have a Bodleian Libraries card, including alumni.
The survey should take on average 10 minutes to complete. Responses are confidential. No identifying links between responses and the individual responding will be retained and only aggregated data will be reported.
As a thank you for completing the survey, participants can choose to enter a prize draw to win one of ten £50 Amazon vouchers.
If you have any difficulty assessing the survey or questions about the survey please contact Frankie Wilson, Head of Assessment, Bodleian Libraries at email@example.com.
