Opening hours

Library closing at 5pm this evening, Tuesday 17th March, for the foreseeable future

Following a meeting of the University’s planning group this morning and in consequence of the latest government guidelines, all Bodleian libraries will close this evening at 5pm and will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Until 5pm this evening our usual services will be maintained, including lending.

Information about online resources and any online services that may be feasible until we reopen will be posted on our website and social media.




Please note: staff service ends 10 minutes before closing time


  • Monday-Friday: 9am-7pm (after 5pm there is only an invigilator on duty**)
  • Saturday-Sunday: Closed

**That means: you cannot register as a new reader, pay fines, or get assistance with stack or interlibrary loan requests

Closure periods

  • Christmas vacation 2020-2021: Thursday 24 December - Sunday 4 January
  • Easter: Good Friday and Easter Monday
  • Bank holidays: All bank holidays that fall outside of full term 
  • Jewish holidays do not affect the Library's opening hours
