Finding Data

To assist researchers and students identify statistics and data most relevant to their research, the Bodleian Data Library highlights key resources according to theme and region, with additional information about data providers and types. Data is defined here in its broadest sense to refer to research information that is collected and then used to inform analysis. This includes audio-visual, textual and in most cases - statistical data resources.

When considering data it can be useful to think about not only different sources, but also the ways in which data is gathered and provided and the implications this has on the research process. Students new to using data may find these pages of the Bodleian Data Library particularly helpful.

There is overlap with the data resources that may be found using Databases A-Z or SOLO (Search Oxford Libraries Online) and LibGuides. The Bodleian Data Library does not aim to duplicate these resource discovery tools which should also be consulted in the course of research.
