About SOLO

Visit SOLO to search the University of Oxford's library resources

Search Oxford Libraries Online (SOLO) is provided by the Bodleian Libraries to allow readers to discover the University of Oxford’s world-class library resources.

SOLO includes:

  • the physical holdings of the majority of libraries within the University of Oxford including the Bodleian Libraries and most college and departmental libraries
  • the University's collections of e-books, e-journals, articles online and databases available from our publisher subscriptions
  • materials which the Bodleian Libraries received via electronic legal deposit (eLD)
  • research papers and theses deposited in the Oxford Research Archive (ORA).

For more information see the SOLO user guide.

The libraries' collections have developed over the centuries and are constantly added to by library staff, taking into account such things as subject relevance, reading lists, requests from readers, and available budget. There are also open access databases included in SOLO – one of the products that forms SOLO lists peer reviewed open resources which we choose to include.

All members of the University of Oxford have access to most of our online resources. Library card holders have access when they are in a library reading room.

More advice and information is available in our e-resources guide.

We are happy to receive feedback and answer questions about SOLO. To contact us please use the libguide feedback page

We aim to continually improve SOLO. The Resource Discovery User Group gathers user feedback on Bodleian Libraries resource discovery tools to determine the implications for improvements in the usability of these services.
