Latest service changes

Libraries reopening

Most of the library buildings and reading rooms have now reopened to staff, students and Bodleian Reader Card holders. You can book slots to use a library desk or book time to browse open shelf collections. Alternatively request an item to collect from a library.

Closed stack deliveries

Closed stack deliveries from the Book Storage Facility (BSF) have resumed for most libraries. To make use of this resource, check SOLO for availability in your chosen library, ensuring you have booked a seat in the reading room beforehand.

Remote resources

You can still make use of library resources remotely even if you can't visit a library in person.

Returns of loans

Readers should return items to the library from which they were borrowed. If this is not possible items can also be returned to temporary loan return hubs. If you are unable to visit a library, you can send books to us using the Royal Mail Tracked service.

Fines for overdue books are currently suspended, we will inform readers when they are reinstated.
