Joining the Library

Are you on an award-bearing course run by the Department for Continuing Education?

You will be issued with a plastic University card with your photo on it at the beginning of your course. This will be your library card for all University libraries but you will need to get it registered at each library before you can borrow. Just bring your card to the library desk. You will need to use it to gain physical access to some libraries.

If your course has started but you do not yet have your University card and need to borrow books, please ask at the library desk.

Are you a Weekly Class student?

If your class is held at Ewert House, you should find library registration cards in your classroom and the Student Resource Room. Fill this in and bring it to the library and we will issue you with a library card. If you have any other valid card such as a University card or Bodleian Libraries reader card, please bring this with you as you can use this for the Rewley House Continuing Education Library too.

If your class is held at a different venue, or you do not have a registration card, or you have lost it, just come to the Library. It is helpful but not essential to bring your course confirmation letter.

You can also register by post, email or phone, please see contact the Library, or by using the online Library Card application form.
