John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera

Introduction

The John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera is one of the largest and most important collections of printed ephemera in the world. Learn more about the collection.

‘Printed ephemera’ is an umbrella term for everyday printed items that are produced for short-term use and normally then thrown away, such as advertisements, greetings cards, programmes, menus, tickets and election leaflets. When they survive, they give us often unexpected insights into the daily lives of our forebears.

The John Johnson Collection is consulted in the Weston Library. Find out more about making a research visit.
