Circulation of books in Chinese

Books in Chinese, unlike other books, cannot be scanned into readers' records on SOLO. This also means that readers cannot check them out using the self-issue machine. Therefore, when readers borrow books in Chinese, they can only be checked out at the Library desk. Library staff will email reminders to readers one day before books are due back, like the automated emails sent out for other books. Regular reminders will also be emailed to readers if/when books become overdue. Otherwise, books in Chinese are subject to the same circulation rules as other books i.e. six books per reader for up to two weeks during term and over vacations with a fine rate of 20p per book per day overdue. Any books in Chinese, borrowed from the CCL Reserve collection (behind the Library desk) will be signed out to readers by Library staff for up to three hours from the moment of borrowing at the Library desk and will form part of readers' allowance of six books. Like other books from the CCL Reserve, these incur a fine rate of 50p per book per hour overdue.
