The Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS) was opened at the China Centre Library in 2015. The cooperation agreement was signed by Dr Tseng Shu-hsien, Director General of the National Central Library and Catriona Canon, Deputy Librarian of the Bodleian Libraries. It is one of several to be established at institutions across the globe, as part of a programme initiated by the National Central Library to improve access to resources on the history, society and culture of Taiwan.
The TRCCS holds an initial donation of over 500 books and DVDs published in Taiwan. All the publications are closely related to the research interests of academics of Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford. They are mainly on Taiwan's history, religion, culture, literature, society and politics as well as on cross-strait relations. As part of the project, the National Central Library will provide Bodleian readers with access to some of its unique databases in Taiwan and Chinese Studies and will strive to support the TRCCS with annual large scale book donations in the future.
