Printing, Copying & Scanning (PCAS) Facilities

Copies of articles and chapters may be obtained by printing, photocopying or scanning using a Print, Copy & Scan (PCAS) copier and a PCAS account.

All printing, copying and scanning is subject to copyright regulations.

The system: PCAS

The following facilities are available on the PCAS system:

  • Colour scanning, copying and printing.
  • Scanning as a standard service across all libraries.
  • Scan to and print from USB memory.
  • Double-sided printing, with discounts.
  • Send a print job and collect from any device in any of the Bodleian Libraries within 72 hours.
  • One card payment system, with credit held in the system and not on the card.
  • Users can view their own account activity.
  • Online top-up of accounts..

Setting up and using a PCAS account

Before using the PCAS system for the first time you will need to set up an online account using the link in the box in the right-hand column. Once created you can top-up your account using a credit or debit card using the same link. The account is linked to your University card allowing you to use the PCAS system by simply swiping your card at the PCAS copier/printer.

Copyright

Readers must be aware of, and abide by, copyright regulations when making copies by any method.

You may copy:

  • The whole or part of a single article from an issue of a periodical.
  • Up to 5% or one chapter of a book.
  • You may not
    • Come back at a later date to copy more from the same issue of a journal or book.
    • Ask someone else to copy additional pages for you

If copies are for commercial purposes you must speak to Enquiry Desk staff before you begin copying as a Copyright Fee is payable.
