Using the Radcliffe Science Library

Admission

  • All University members and Bodleian Reader card holders may use the Radcliffe Science Library, not just those studying a science subject.
  • Swipe your card at the entry gate to access the library.

Rules and regulations

The Bodleian Libraries Regulations and Rules of Conduct apply in this library. Please note the following local rules:

  • Drinking water and drinks contained in a KeepCup or another container with a sealable lid are allowed throughout the RSL. Other food and drinks are not allowed in the reading rooms or on the stairs. Cold food and drinks in sealed cups are allowed in certain spaces; please check the signage.
  • We don’t require absolute silence in the library, but anyone causing disturbance to other readers will be asked to stop or to leave the library.
  • Personal devices, including phones, laptops and other equipment, must not cause a disturbance to other readers.  
  • Readers using old, rare, or fragile material may be asked to take special precautions. These may include taking notes in pencil, the use of specially designed book supports and restrictions on photocopying. Please do not leave this material unattended and always return it to the staff on duty.
  • For security reasons, please always keep your personal belongings with you.

  • The reception desk in the entrance hall is staffed throughout the library's opening hours. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need help.
  • You can return borrowed books in the entrance hall.
