For Researchers

Access to world-class resources

Oxford subscribes to a wide range of databases to provide data for your research. You can find out more about these in our LibGuide, Key Business Resources, where we categorise resources based on the type of information you will find in them. This also includes several databases to which the Saïd Business School sbuscribes, which are unfortunately unavailable to members of the wider university.

For most resources, you simply need to follow a link, and perhaps log on with your Single Sign-On (especially if you are outside Oxford). However, there are some resources for which you will need an individual account. Contact us to be set up with an account for Capital IQ or WRDS, or to request that Datastream be installed on your personal PC or laptop.

Purchasing policy

We will purchase a copy of any books recommended by a member of the SBS, as long as they fall within the subject area of Business & Management. (See purchasing policy.)

Research Support

Whether in need of general advice and support, or more in-depth help with finding and using more complex information sources for research, course projects and theses, library staff are available to support students and staff to make the most of the information resources on offer.

In particular Andy Kernot, Senior Information Officer, will be pleased to receive requests for one-on-one assistance or group support via phone (01865 2 88886), email (andrew.kernot@bodleian.ox.ac.uk), or by personal contact in the Sainsbury Library.

Library staff also conduct inductions at the start of each academic year for all course groups and are in the process of developing a series of follow-up sessions throughout the year. In addition, you may be interested in the free WISER programme for development of research skills.

DPhil Reading Room

For a trial period, the DPhil room has been designated a reading room of the library for the purposes of Stack Requests. This means that you can sign out Stack books to take to the DPhil room, in order to make use of the facilities and study space there.

Promoting your Research

Eureka

Eureka is the department's online research archive. We ask that you record all your publications:

  • Journal articlesEureka Logo
  • Book chapters
  • Conference papers
  • Working papers
  • Anything else

A record in Eureka can just be a note of the fact that you published something – and that’s useful in itself when it comes to writing funding applications – but it can also contain a link to the full text on a publisher’s website, or (if allowed by your publisher) to a full-text copy held within Eureka itself.

Eureka helps to promote your research by increasing readership and citation, and means that you will have an easy record of your work at Oxford available from anywhere in the world. We will look after your data for you, and you'll always have an Oxford URL for your CV.
