Tuesday, 24th November, is the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's Origin of Species. The RSL is marking this occasion with a small exhibit in the Lounge area from 0930-1630, when there will be an opportunity to see the original printed first edition [except between 1030-1130 when we'll be exhibiting it in Plant Sciences] and to compare the various digital editions now available, including the Google Books version, digitised from the Plant Sciences Library's copy (recently featured in the Oxford Times), and versions for the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader e-book readers.
There will be a chance to use and compare the Kindle and Sony devices, and an opportunity to sign up to 'road test' these readers as part of our evaluation of their potential as 'carriers' of library material. All are welcome - drop in any time.
We look forward to seeing you.
