The Vere Harmsworth Library is the University of Oxford's main research library for US Studies. Located in the Rothermere American Institute, our collection focuses predominantly on the history, social, political and economic, of the United States from Colonial times to the present day.
"The Vere Harmsworth Library is a simply wonderful place in which to work. Its rich holdings of books, periodicals, newspapers and government documents ... are housed in the most comfortable of working environments, largely on open access, and in an award-winning modern building. Add to this the unfailing helpfulness of its staff and the availability of specialist librarians to handle in-depth enquiries, and it’s hard to think of a better place outside the United States for the study of American history and politics."
