Flooring work: Bodleian Library Lower Reading Room

Work to replace the flooring in the Lower Reading Room (LRR) of the Old Bodleian Library will begin on Tuesday 26 August until Friday 5 September. Access to collections and study areas will be affected, though a route through LRR will be maintained.

Tuesday 26 - Friday 29 August: South side of LRR

  • New flooring will be laid on the south side of LRR.
  • The Theology, Patristics and Philosophy rooms will be unavailable for study.
  • Some items from the collections in the Theology, Patristics and Philosophy rooms will need to be retrieved by staff.
  • The Training Room will be closed for some periods.

Monday 1 - Friday 5 September: North side of LRR

  • New flooring will be laid on the north side of LRR.
  • The Tower room and the Classics rooms will be unavailable for study.
  • Some items from the collections in the Tower room and the Classics rooms will need to be retrieved by staff.

The Main Enquiry Desk and the LRR Self Collect shelves will remain available throughout the work.
