Work in the Old Bodleian Library

17 September 2012

During the period Thursday 20 September - Tuesday 2 October 2012 work will be taking place in the Old Bodleian Library as part of the second phase of the Underground Bookstore and Old Bodleian Library Access Project. This work will enable us to maximise seating in the reading rooms as well as improve accessibility to readers with impaired mobility including, for the first time, access to the Library's Main Enquiry Desk at a new location in the north end of the Lower Reading Room.

Please note the following detailed information:

  • Furniture moves will be taking place over the weekend of 22 / 23 September. The Lower Reading Room will therefore be closed on Saturday 22 September (a fetching service will be provided from the Upper Reading Room - please ask staff at Upper Reserve)
  • Additional furniture including height adjustable tables in both reading rooms will be installed early in 0th Week
  • The Main Enquiry Desk will be closed from Thursday 20 September to Tuesday 2 October (a member of enquiry staff will be based at the Upper Reserve during this period)
  • Photocopying facilities in the Lower Reading Room will be unavailable from Thursday 20 September to Tuesday 2 October (alternative copiers are available in the Upper Reading Room, Gladstone Link and Lower Camera and print jobs may be collected from any PCAS machine across the Bodleian Libraries).
The Library apologises for any temporary inconvenience whilst these important changes are made.
