Diary of Ethel Mary Fiedler now online

The handwritten diary of Ethel Fiedler, which is kept at the Taylor, has been digitized by Chloe Dash, Graduate Trainee 2010-2011. The diary, which bears the title, Main Incidents in the Married life of Hermann Georg Fiedler and Ethel Mary Fiedler, covers the period between December 11th 1899 and May 13th 1922.

Ethel Mary Fiedler was the wife of Hermann Fiedler, who became Oxford Professor of German in July 1907 and secretary to the curators of the Taylor Institution in 1926. As Chloe says, the diary ‘documents Hermann Georg Fiedler's academic career from a very personal perspective.’

The diary is catalogued on Archives hub and the digital images are on flickr.
