Entry to the Library requires a valid swipe card (University card or Bodleian card registered at the Sackler reception). It is essential for readers to bring their card on all visits to the Library.
Access
The front doors may be locked at any time and are regularly locked from 17:00 on Monday to Friday and throughout the day on Saturdays. Registered readers can use their swipe cards to enter and exit via these doors. New readers should use the buzzer/intercom to contact the Lodge/Reception.
Closing time
The closing bell will ring 30 minutes before closing time, 20 minutes before closing time and finally (3 rings) 10 minutes before closing time. Readers are required to be ready to leave immediately when this final bell is rung.
There is no admission to the Library after 21.40/16.40 or borrowing after 21.40/16/40. The building will be progressively cleared and locked as soon as the final bell is rung.

Lockers/no bags
Under the Library rules, bags and briefcases (excluding laptop bags) may not be brought into the Library.
Lockers are available in two locker rooms off the Outer Vestibule.
The lockers are operated by £1 coins. Transparent carrier bags are available from the Lodge/Reception.
