New Bodleian Reading Room
Over the last year there has been ongoing work at the OIL to accomodate books that have now been relocated to the library as a result of the New Bodleian Library closing for refurbishment works. During the Easter vacation of 2010 the Persian and Turkish books (previously housed in the basement of the Oriental Institute Library), have been moved to closed stack access. These books can be accessed using the Automated Stack Request System (ASR).
The New Bodleian Library books are reference only material and indicated as such by the yellow dot on the spine label and the Bodleian stamp inside of the book. These books are intershelved with the existing OIL Library of Congress material (see the map of the Library layout below). Addiitionally, as a result of the closure of the Indian Institute, Bodleian books have been shelved in the South Asian collection, currently in the OIL basement.
Please see the map on the right hand side for a detailed view of the ground floor.
