Remote access to University resources
If you are a member of Oxford University and are using a PC, Mac or Unix workstation within the ox.ac.uk domain, you will be able to access most electronic resources without requiring a username and/or password.
For remote access to databases, electronic reference works and e-book or e-journals packages:
- Use OxLIP+ and log in with your University of Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Alternatively, click directly on a resource name and it will prompt you for your University of Oxford SSO login details
- To find out whether you are eligible for a University of Oxford SSO, please consult the Entitlement to OUCS Services pages.
For remote access to individual e-journals:
- Use Oxford University e-journals and you will be prompted to log in with your University of Oxford SSO when clicking through to the individual journal homepage.
Remote access (using VPN)
It is also possible to be allocated an Oxford IP address through the University’s Virtual Private Network (VPN). This requires registering for a remote access username and password and installing VPN software on your PC. More information about the Virtual Private Network (VPN) service.
Information for OUH Trust staff
OUH Trust staff can access University-licenced electronic resources within the Libraries, but not remotely. OUH Trust staff can access OUH Trust-licenced online resources with their NHS Athens username and password.
