Accessing Online Resources Away from Oxford
A session to demonstrate how to access the electronic resources when you are not in Oxford.
Advanced Searching in Lexis & Westlaw
A session to look at some of the advanced functions of the two databases and look at constructing advanced searches.
Common Law Resources
Competition Law
An overview of the main sources of EU and UK competition law available in the Library and online.
Foreign Law
This class looks at e-resources for jurisdictions other than the UK, the USA and the European Union for which there are separate classes.
Lexis and Westlaw contain a wealth of material from Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and beyond but accessing this material can be difficult. This session will remind you how to access non UK materials on these databases, before moving on to introduce the considerable number of specialist, subscription databases available at Oxford and to show the reliable resources which are available freely on the internet.
Human Rights Resources
An overview of some of the subscription and free Human Rights sources available. This session will concentrate mainly on electronic sources although hard copy sources will be mentioned.
Indexes to Journals
How to find journal articles by subject and keyword using a range of databases including Index to Legal Periodicals, Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals, Legal Journals Index, the Social Science Citation Index and others.
Legal Research Skills Programme (LRSP)
This is a practical programme designed to help first year law students learn about the structure of legal resources and how to use them efficiently. The first unit which takes place in Michaelmas term focuses on using online resources to find reading list materials. > more information. Undergraduates are timetabled to attend this course. Others are welcome to attend by appointment.
Legal History
This class is for those interested in Anglo-American legal history aka the history of the common law tradition. There are many more resources available electronically for the legal historian than one might suspect! This class will start with a reminder about the availability of the English Reports, but move on to show the useful electronic databases now available for all periods of study from the age of the yearbooks to the Victorians.

This session demonstrates how to use the Library resources available throughout the Bodleian Libraries to aid you in your research.

Public International Law
Resources for EU Law
How to recognise ECJ cases citations, where to look them up and how to find cases on a particular subject, hardcopy and online.
Tax
The tax class will review online tax resources available visa the BLL, such as those on Lexis, including Simon’s Tax Cases, and other resources such as IBFD and Tax Notes International.
Treaties
How to find these primary sources of international law in both print and electronically.
UK Cases and Legislation
This is an introduction in finding UK cases and legislation and includes searching for specific material or material on a particular subject as well as how to make sure the material is up to date and accurate.
United Nations Documents
An introduction to finding these documents electronically
US Legal Resources
This 2 hour class encompasses both printed and electronic resources for US law.
