Disabled Readers
Access
The Bodleian Latin American Centre Library occupies the ground and first floors of the Latin American Centre. The entrance to the Main Library and Seminar Room is from Church Walk via a flight of seven steps.
There is a path from the front of the building to the Stack. The Stack is the library's third reading room. It is on the ground floor and houses the history collection, journals and special collections, which are kept on mobile shelving. There is desk space plus computing facilities and microfiche and microfilm viewers.
To discuss access to the library in advance, please call 01865 274483 or email laclib@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.
There is a lavatory on the first floor of the building but this has not been adapted for disabled readers. The nearest lavatory for disabled readers is at the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies, St Antony's College.
Equipment
A portable induction loop is available from the library office, which is on the first floor of the building.
Also available is a hand magnifier (five-and-a-half inch width) and a small selection of A4 coloured acetate sheets.
For enquiries concerning supporting equipment and materials, please contact library staff.
Book fetches & copying
Staff are happy to help by bringing books down to the Stack.
Alternatively, contact the library (01865 274483, laclib@bodleian.ox.ac.uk) and ask to have books set aside for later collection by a helper.
Contact the library (01865 274483, laclib@bodleian.ox.ac.uk) if you need to discuss access to reference materials. In some cases it may be possible to arrange for them to be transferred to a more convenient location. Under special circumstances, some reference material may be borrowed on a short loan, subject to permission from the librarians.
Tailored user education and induction sessions
Tailored one-to-one user education and induction sessions can be arranged if needed. In the first instance please contact Frank Egerton to discuss your requirements (01865 274483, frank.egerton@bodleian.ox.ac.uk).
