Weddings & civil partnerships

A lifetime of memories

No two weddings at the Bodleian are the same, and our Events Team provides a friendly and personal service which meets the highest professional standards. We will help you tailor your special day to suit your budget and tastes.

We would be delighted to help make your wedding at the Bodleian a magical day.

We have three rooms which are licensed for civil weddings and civil partnerships: the Divinity School, Convocation House and the Chancellor’s Court.

div

The 15th-century Divinity School, the University’s first teaching room and earliest examination hall. Available for hire evenings only.

CH

Convocation House, built in the 17th century as the meeting room for the University’s supreme legislative body.

CC

Chancellor's Court, formerly the University’s court room.

Floor plans, seating plans and Divinity School room dimensions are available.

A ceremony at the Bodleian

Larger weddings, with up to 120 guests, can be held in the magnificent Divinity School in the late afternoon. Your hire includes the use of Convocation House and Chancellor’s Court too. On Saturdays there is a minimum hire period of six hours, so you may consider having your reception at the Bodleian too.
