A small display exploring the notion of printing errors and emendations in the first two centuries of the printing press in Europe. Typographical mistakes and their corrections offer a wealth of information, shedding light on publishers' practices, printing and pre-publication procedures, and editorial strategies in early modern print shops. The display shows a range of commonplace printing errors and corrections, including technical failures (such as fallen type), cheap printing, errata sheets, and both printed and manuscript corrections.

The display is curated by Geri Della Rocca de Candal and Paolo Sachet and is part of the colloquium Printing and misprinting: typographical mistakes and publishers' corrections (1450-1650). Lincoln College and Bodleian Libraries, Oxford (20-21 April 2018).
