Description

As part of Oxford Folk Weekend, festival director Cat Kelly has unearthed six popular songs from the Bodleian's collection of broadside ballads and written new arrangements for local community choirs.

Drop in to enjoy storytelling, printing, folk music performances, an introduction to broadside ballads, and a song sharing workshop where you can join in with the celebration concert.

Schedule

  • 11-11.45am: Talk - Alys Torrance - a performance storyteller, clown and actress 
  • 12-12.45pm: Folk music - Elfen - the seamless blending of three great musicians; Stacey Blythe, Helina Rees, and Jordan Williams
  • 1-1.45pm: Talk - Giles Bergel will be introducing broadside ballads for beginners
  • 2.15-3.15pm - Song share in Blackwell Hall: join the community choirs to learn the choruses of their songs so you can sing along in the performance
  • 3.30-4pm - Songs of life and love performance
