Description
This talk will concentrate on the high profile impeachments, which featured in the early years of George I's reign. In particular that of the Earl of Oxford, which illustrates clearly the way news was disseminated across a range of media. By reference to both print and manuscript resources, this lecture will aim to show how a very full impression of the proceedings can be obtained and the world of 18th century Westminster reimagined.
The lecture will be accompanied by a small display.
Sponsored by History of Parliament Trust.
