Thomas Bodley's history trail

Discover the Library’s history with your family through Thomas Bodley’s History Trail, ten quiz questions to guide you through the external quadrangles, the beautiful Divinity School, the Sheldonian Theatre and the Weston Library.

Tickets: A family ticket costs £3.50 and provides entrance for two adults and up to three children (aged 0-15) to the Divinity School. Thomas Bodley’s History Trail costs £1.50. Additional children’s entry to the Divinity School costs £1.

Duration: Approximately 40 minutes

Please ask for details from a member of our staff in the ticket office at the main entrance to the Old Bodleian Library.

Tours for families

  • Divinity School visit (No guide. Duration: self timed)
  • Audio tours: Older children may also enjoy our self-guided audio tours, which last for 40 minutes. A family ticket for the audio tours costs £6 for two adults and up to three children 
  • Mini tours (for families with children aged 11+. Led by a guide. Duration thirty minutes)
  • Standard tours (for families with children aged 11+. Led by a guide. Duration sixty minutes)

Visiting the Weston Library 

The Weston Library houses exhibitions, displays, a public café and the Zvi Meitar Bodleian Shop.

We welcome children of all ages. Exhibition entry is free of charge, and we have accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities next to the café. The Weston Library is accessible by ramp from Broad Street, and pushchairs are welcome in the galleries.
