By including the Bodleian in your will, you can ensure that the Bodleian opens its doors to scholars and visitors for centuries to come, and remains at the forefront of research libraries worldwide.
The Founder of the Bodleian, Sir Thomas Bodley, left his estate to the Bodleian to support its activities in the future, writing in his will:
I will so provide hereafter as you shall still be assured of a standing annual rent, to be disboursed every yere in buying of bookes, in officers stipends, and other pertinent occasions.
Since that time, the Bodleian has received hundreds of legacy gifts supporting many key areas, from endowment funds for key staff, to digitisation and outreach activities.
Bodley's Circle was established in 2009 as a way to thank supporters of the Bodleian Libraries who plan to leave a gift in their will. Members of this Circle receive correspondence directly from Bodley's Librarian, and are invited to a number of special events throughout the year.
The Bodleian Libraries are honoured to receive legacy pledges. To find out more about leaving a legacy, visit our development campaign pages or email Emily Winstanley - Emily.email@example.com
