Bodleian Libraries Rules of Conduct

On admission to the Bodleian Libraries, all readers agree to abide by the Rules of Conduct and to adhere to the spirit of the Bodleian Declaration:

I hereby undertake not to remove from the Library, or to mark, deface, or injure in any way, any volume, document, or other object belonging to it or in its custody; not to bring into the Library or kindle therein any fire or flame, and not smoke in the Library; and I promise to obey all rules of the Library.

Access to the Bodleian Libraries is a privilege for all applicants, and the Bodleian Libraries reserves the right to refuse to issue a Bodleian Reader Card.

All prospective readers need to apply in person at the Bodleian Librariesí Admissions Office, and applications can be considered only at the time of applying.
