Notice of software upgrade and electrical work during the Easter vacation

During the Easter vacation, the following essential work will be carried out:

1. Taylor Institution Library and Taylor Bodleian Slavonic and Modern Greek Library

Staff PC software upgrade:

On Monday 17th March, all staff PCs at the libraries will have their operating system upgraded.  We will do our best to ensure that minimal disruption to Reader Services is caused.

2. Taylor Institution Library

Distribution board replacement:

Over the coming weeks, a number of distribution boards will be replaced as part of the ongoing electrical upgrade.

It is hoped that during the work we can keep reading rooms open but areas such as the Basement and the Stacks will have to be closed to readers and books will have to be fetched.

Most replacements will mean areas being closed for a day, although some will mean closures of two days.

The rooms affected are:

Central and South Basements; Voltaire Room; Teaching Collection upper floor; French and German Reading Room; Lower Stack; Upper Stack; Graduate Studies Room.

We have asked the electricians for as much notice as possible before work is carried out, which we shall pass on to readers via notices and our website,

If you have any concerns about the above work, please contact the library's Operations Manager, Frank Egerton:
