Opening Hours

Note that opening hours may sometimes change at short notice. If travelling to visit a library you are advised to check with the library to confirm details.

The Library will maintain its normal opening hours throughout the Easter Vacation, except for Good Friday and Easter Monday. 1 week at Christmas & Easter; Bank holidays during University vacations; Monday & Tuesday of St Giles' Fair || Exceptionally at other times which will be noted on the library website and social media.


For access please supply EITHER an Oxford University / Bodleian card OR proof of address (e.g. Driving licence, utility bill etc.) For access to archives and closed stack material please also bring a letter of introduction.

Subjects Covered

The library is one of the largest 19th century theology libraries in Oxford, and holds a collection of international importance of materials relating to the Oxford Movement and Anglo-Catholicism. Other strengths of the collection include: Anglican History; Patristics; Liturgy; Doctrinal Theology. The archive contains extensive material on the Tractarians and the Oxford Movement; Anglo-Catholic Societies; Anglican Religious Orders; and notable Anglo-Catholic individuals.
