Online databases and articles guide

We have a guide to help you navigate your way through the online resources available to NHS staff. Here you can find out how to get access to thousands of electronic resources through your OpenAthens account, such as UpToDate, Royal Marsden Handbook, Oxford Medicine Online, and full text journals from the RCN. There is information on how to find that particular article you are looking for, or if you want to search for articles on a topic, there is guidance on how to search the databases. We also have access to e-books. Bookmark this guide and add it to your favourites.

Library catalogue

You can search for print books and journals as well as accessing electronic books and articles by using our library catalogue - SOLO. You can logon to SOLO to check what items you have on loan, see when they are due back, renew items, and reserve items. You will need your library card number and password - please speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or difficulties. For a small fee, we can get hold of books and articles through Document Supply if we don't have them in the library.

Borrowing books

If you have found a book you would like to take home, you can borrow it. You will need to be a member of Bodleian Health Care Libraries. You can borrow up to 10 books for 2 weeks and you can renew a book 26 times, as long as no-one else has requested it. You can renew your books in lots of ways, and staff are always willing to help you. We charge fines for late returns or renewals.

If you have a suggestion that you would like to make about the library then you can email us. There are also suggestion boxes in the libraries for a more anonymous approach. We have a form you can fill in. You can suggest anything from a new book title, a new piece of equipment, a change in the library layout, a new software programme, etc. We will consider all requests and keep you informed.
