As it’s Mental Health Awareness Week we thought it would be an excellent idea to round up our relevant resources and facilities. UK charity Mental Health Foundation is particularly focusing on stress this year – something that may be all-to-familiar to many of our members at times.
First of all, don’t forget that the library is a quiet space that is always available to you when you need it. Our Cairns Library at the John Radcliffe is accessible 24/7, as is the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Library to all staff based at the NOC with a key fob.
At the Cairns we have a cosy corner with easy chairs and a small collection of officially designated “mood boosting” books – both fiction and non-fiction. In our main book room look out for our new books stand, half of which is currently dedicated to stress and other mental health-related titles from our collections, with titles ranging from Understanding the Emotional Disorders to Stress Management for Dummies. Just to the right of this we have our Books on Prescription collection, which has something for everyone.
