Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Country Reports
Data and analysis from the Economist Intelligence Unit which provides an overview of India and covers politics, economy, risk, industry and other issues. This analysis is also used as the basis for five year forecasts of future developments. Reports and statistics are updated monthly.

Statistical and data profile on India covering topics such as agriculture, development, education, government and health.

SARDS 3 - South Asia Research Documentation Services
An electronic database containing bibliographic references to South Asia research articles published in journals, collective volumes, conference proceedings, Festschriften, etc. To date, over 56.000 citations are electronically searchable, covering the period from 1786 until 2000. All entries can be downloaded and easily printed.

World Bank Development Indicators
Data from the World Bank may be filtered to focus on India and covers topics such as agriculture, climate change, economy and growth, education, gender, health and poverty. The primary World Bank collection of development indicators, compiled from officially-recognized international sources may also be accessed and analysed.

EPW Research Foundation (EPWRF) India Time Series
The database is an online resource with comprehensive coverage of Indian economy from 1950 (depending on availability). Bodleian subscription is limited to he following modules:

  • National Accounts Statistics of India,

  • Domestic Product of States,

  • Finances of Government of India,

  • Finances of State Governments,

  • Power Sector.

Access is limited to five concurrent users. Login is via IP recognition - just click on 'Login' sign in the top right corner.

Indiastat
A major resource for Indian data on agricultural production, health, higher education, economic trends, tourism and other areas. The site also contains information on banks, crime, foreign trade, labour, population, urban and rural settlements in India and many other areas.

Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India
Official pages of the Indian government providing data on demography, economic activity, literacy and education, housing, urbanisation, fertility, mortality, scheduled castes and many other socio-cultural and demographic data. This covers the period from 1872 to 2011. Census 2011 was the 15th national census of the country. This is a key source of primary data at the village, town and ward level.

Ministry of Statistics and Implementation Programme (MOSPI)
Main resource page of the Indian Government Ministry of Statistics with links to statistical yearbooks, data archives and other useful social and economic information. There are also notes on a consumer price index, economic and social classifications and the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) the key source of Indian industrial statistics.
