In Bodleian MS Rawl. C 639,The ioyes of heauven delivered in sonnetts is an unpublished and little known English Catholic sonnet sequence of the late-sixteenth / early-seventeenth centuries. This master class will consider the three hands identifiable in the work, and the evidence they provide with regard to the dating and intended function of the manuscript; it will also explore some of the more unusual features of the text, including the author's instructions for the design of an emblematic frontispiece.
