9 November 2013 — 8 December 2013
The novelist Barbara Pym wrote the finest examples of high comedy to have appeared in England during the twentieth century. As a student at St Hilda's College in the 1930s, she studied in the Bodleian and after her death the Library was given her literary papers. To celebrate the centenary of her birth, the Bodleian displays items from this rich and varied collection, including The Magic Diamond (Pym's earliest recorded work, written by her at the age of nine), manuscripts of her best known novel, Excellent Women, and letters from other writers and her lovers.
