General access to the Bodleian Library reading rooms via the south staircase will be limited during this work, with periods when there will be no access. At other times, it will be possible to move between the south Proscholium entrance and the Lower Reading Room only. There will be no general access between this staircase and either Duke Humfrey's Library or the Upper Reading Room for the duration of the work.

Exact timings will depend on the progress of the work, with local signage indicating when sections of the staircase can be used. Readers are advised to use the north staircase during this period.

The south staircase will be available as an emergency evacuation route throughout the work.
