Some of the most treasured manuscripts from the Bodleian Library’s poetry collection will be featured on Radio 4’s ‘Great Libraries’ series. Presented by Joan Bakewell, the series also visits the Wordsworth Trust in the Lake District and the National Library of Wales.
During the programme dedicated to the Bodleian Library, Andrew Motion, the Poet Laureate, will be reading a selection of poems including Eliot’s ‘Marina’, Larkin’s ‘Long Lion Days’ and Shelley’s ‘Adonais’.
The manuscripts of these poems, housed in the Bodleian Library, will be discussed by Chris Fletcher, Bruce Barker-Benfield and Richard Ovenden, curators in the Library.
The programme is on air on Sunday 4 March at 1630 on Radio 4 and is repeated on Saturday 10 March at 23.30.
