Update Friday 7th October: Teaching Collection (MLF) opening arrangements for 0th and First Weeks

It is anticipated that building works in the Teaching Collection (MLF) will be completed by Monday of First Week (10th October).

The following arrangements are expected to be in place during 0th Week:

  • Monday-Friday (3rd-7th October): the Issue Desk will be located at the MLF Office from 9 am-5 pm (follow signs to Issue Desk) and MLF books will be fetched for you. From 5-7 pm Readers should request MLF books at the Enquiry Desk in the Main Taylor. The books will be fetched for you.
  • Saturday (8th October): Readers should request MLF books at the Enquiry Desk in the Main Taylor. The books will be fetched for you.
  • Monday, First Week (10th October): it is hoped that the new Issue Desk on the ground floor of the MLF will open in the afternoon. Access to the MLF will then be via new entrances on the ground floor and first floor.

Please note: the number of available SOLO terminals will be limited during 0th Week, so it is advisable to search SOLO and note down shelfmarks from home before coming to the library.

About the building works

On Monday 22nd August 2011, building works started in the hall off the St Giles' entrance to the Taylor Institution. This work represents the first stage of the improvements that will provide access to the building for all our readers.

The building works associated with the first stage of the improvements will continue until at least the beginning of Michaelmas term.

We shall post updates about the building works from time to time on this website.
