Photocopying, Printing and Scanning
PCAS is 1 year old today!
The new PCAS system was launched 1 year ago this month. There have been a few ups and downs but overall the system is a great success with new services and increased performance. PCAS brought in many changes and new functionality such as printing from laptops, scanning, colour printing/copying, double-sided and online account top-ups. Usage has gone up this year which will allow us to develop the system even more. We have made some significant improvements, especially to the printing speed, and we will continue to make further improvements and add functionality over the coming 12 months.
Please feel free to give feedback and suggestions for further improvement at pcas@bodleian.ox.ac.uk
Self-Service Copying
Most Bodleian Libraries have photocopiers at which readers can make copies themselves from books and periodicals.
Please remember that copyright law restricts the amount that can be copied from any single work. The standard amount regarded as reasonable is one chapter or 5% of the total length of a monograph, or one article from a periodical issue. More information about copyright limits is available on the Bodleian Making a copy page.
Fragile and manuscript material, and material printed before 1800
For details of how to obtain copies of these kinds of material in the Bodleian, see Imaging Services.
Please ask at other libraries for their reproduction services for these kinds of material.
Personal scanners and digital cameras
Readers are able to use personal scanners and digital cameras to make copies of printed material in the Bodleian Libraries, with some exceptions. Read more about permitted use.
Photocopy card
The common Photocopy Card was withdrawn on 9 August 2010. See PCAS launch information for how to transfer credit to your PCAS account.
