IT Equipment Requests to the Equipment Sub-Committee

Requests for new eqipment should be submitted through this form.  If you do not have funds, then the request will be considered by the Equipment Sub-Committee.

The Bodleian Libraries keeps the ICT Support Team informed of the overall library IT strategy through the IT Strategy Group (on which the ICT Support Team is represented by Andrew Hynes, Maggie Howe and Mark Round), and by its annual planning objectives within the 5 year Bodleian Libraries' Vision. This will include new library projects involving IT provision (e.g. additional server and PC hardware, new software applications) and additional or expanding services involving IT support.

The Bodleian Libraries' Equipment Sub-Committee (ESC) meets four times a year. The ESC will act as user group for desktop replacement and support representing the Bodleian Libraries.

The ICT Support Team will seek to update the Bodleian Libraries' PCs in a 5-year cycle, and will manage lifetime printer costs to minimise overall print spending by appropriate replacement of printers.

The ICT Support Team will continue to use the same process of replacement PCs according to the inventory, and will provide additional new PCs, printers and other equipment where necessary on request from managers using the existing request form.

The ICT Support Team uses the Altiris software environment for the Helpdesk and inventory. The Bodleian Libraries' staff will be kept informed about the replacement schedule for their PCs and consulted about installation when replacements are being made.
