Study, Training, Social and Consultation Areas in the RSL

The Radcliffe Science Library contains a variety of spaces to suit your needs: quiet, formal study areas, informal areas to relax, places to eat and drink.

Study Areas

The RSL has numerous study areas of varying types:

  • The reading rooms are for quiet study. Four (Levels 5 -- 8)  are above ground, two (Levels 2 & 3) are below ground.
  • The Lounge on Level 4, just off the Entrance Hall, provides a comfortable setting for group and private study.
  • Level 6 Zone, a relaxed space at one end of Level 6.
  • The Group Study Room, a bookable space for collaborative study.
  • The Abbot's Kitchen Training Room is available for group or individual study when not in use for training.

Training facilities

The Abbot's Kitchen houses a well equipped training room suitable for groups of up to 30 trainees.

The Group Study Room is also equipped for use as a smaller, more intimate, training room suitable for small groups or one-to-one training.

Both rooms are available for hire by University departments and organisations, companies and charities outside the University.

Social areas

The Radcliffe Science Library has two social areas:

  • The Lounge is on Level 4, just off the Entrance Hall.
  • The Abbot's Kitchen is reached from Levels 5 and 7. Chat, relax, eat and drink in the art-deco inspired surroundings. Vending machines provide hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and chocolate.
